Helen Thurloe

Helen Thurloe is a writer of poetry, essays, fiction and websites. She has lived in Pittwater for most of the past twenty years, and finds it a frequent source of inspiration.

Helen's poetry appears in anthologies including Best Australian Poems, Australian Love Poems and Women’s Work, and has been published in Quadrant, Cordite and page seventeen. Recent awards include the ACU Prize for Literature, Banjo Paterson Open Poetry Prize, and the Ethel Webb Bundell Poetry Award.

Musings on domestic obligations, modern life and mortality are frequent themes in my work.

My longer form fiction and essays are fired by ideas too messy for poetry. My most recent novel (on the road to publication) is about forced marriage in contemporary Sydney.
