Karl was born in Finland, in the city of Helsinki, and spent his childhood living in the grounds of Helsinki university. Arriving in Australia in the year 1970 as a 17 yr old he held down numerous jobs as a factory worker but always had a keen interest in music and fine arts. He is currently completing an Advanced Diploma of Visual Arts with view to continuing towards a Bachelors degree. He works predominantly in painting and ceramic sculptural pieces with a surrealist outlook.
