Born in 1992, Kate Darmody currently lives and works in Sydney. In 2014, she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Arts from the College of Fine Arts at the University of New South Wales.
Painting and Sculpture are an integral aspect of Darmody's practice. Since Darmody's first Solo exhibition, A Fluttering Delight, Maitland; Darmody has exhibited in numerous selected group exhibitions throughout Sydney, including the Verge festival (Eastern Ave, Camperdown), smART Arts Festival (Pine St. Gallery, Chippendale) and PINA (COFA Space, Paddington). Darmody has recently returned from China, where she pursued her studies at Tian Jin Academy of Fine Arts. Darmody participated in a group exhibition in Tian Jin, Displacement.
Darmodys work primarily deals with stories of humanity and the human experience, which occur within society, social structures, the body and the environment. Her artistic practice involves sculpture, performance, installation and painting; a range of mediums which enable poetic and transformative visual conclusions.
