Michelle Perrett


In 1994 Michelle completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the College of Fine Arts, UNSW in Sydney.  She was awarded a residency in Paris at the Moya Dyring studio from the AGNSW in 1999. Since returning she completed a UNSW Masters Degree in 2005 and has exhibited with Tim Olsen Gallery, Sir Hermann Black Gallery, Mura Clay Gallery, Sculpture by the Sea, Sculpture at Sawmillers, Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize (finalist) and in 2013, Art in Odd Places. Currently she is a studio resident at Eramboo Artist Environment in Sydney.

Michelle’s main form of artistic expression is sculpture using clay and glazes. She employs techniques such as carving and modeling. Surface treatments involve Terra Sigillatta, reflective glazes, dry glazes and oxides.

The current project for the On Islands festival is an installation of 100 ceramic miniature canoes. The canoes are inlayed with archetypal bodies lying within the vessel offering a medium to enter a collective memory.
