Suzanne Davey is an interdisciplinary artist working principally in sculpture and installation. She uses mixed media and diverse techniques to produce work that ranges from small meticulously crafted ceramic assemblages to large scale site responsive outdoor installations that harness air movement and light. Fragility, vulnerability, struggle and their counterparts transformation, resilience, sanctuary are key thematic concerns. By creating poetic spatial ensembles from textiles, natural and everyday materials and exhibiting them in gallery, public and natural environments she aims to identify and highlight contemporary experiences, places and things that connect, divide and drive us as individuals and collectives.
Suzanne has been selected as a finalist for many exhibitions including Sculpture at Scenic World 2013, Fishers Ghost Contemporary Art Award 2014, North Sydney Art Prize 2013, HIDDEN sculpture walk 2014 - 2012, Sculpture in the Vineyards 2012 and was awarded a stipend Sculpture on the Green 2014. Public art projects include ENLIVEN 2014, Art in Odd Places 2013 and SEE 2013. Her background includes a career in arts administration and public programs, community arts, design and education along with studies in fine arts at COFA, UNSW, various creative TAFE courses and education at Sydney University.
